Common questions
I've already shown my invention publicly. Can I still patent it?
Public disclosure before filing usually destroys novelty, though India provides a limited 12-month grace period in specific circumstances. Talk to us before disclosing anything further; timing is everything.
Patent or design registration, which do I need?
A patent protects how something works; a design registration protects how it looks. Many products warrant both. We'll tell you which fight is worth funding.
How long does an Indian patent take?
Typically 3–5 years to grant, though expedited examination is available to eligible applicants (including startups). Protection, once granted, runs 20 years from filing.
Process

How it works

1

Assess

We search prior art and tell you plainly whether, and what, to file.

2

Draft

Claims written to be as broad as defensible and as precise as the registry demands.

3

File & prosecute

From filing through examination to grant, we handle every office action.

4

Maintain

Annuities and renewals calendared so a missed fee never kills a granted right.
